Alan Chau
Senior Executive Education Advisor
Alan is a recognised academic of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Oxford. Here at the Thinking Lab, Alan specialises in coaching and guiding students with STEM admission applications. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Statistics degree with first-class honours and was ranked 1st of his year. He then continued with his master’s qualification, where he graduated with first-class honours and ranked 2nd in his batch. Currently a recipient of the EPSRC & MRC scholarship, Alan is a third-year DPhil student at Oxford researching Statistical Machine Learning methods, with a focus on explainable AI, causal inference, and probabilistic modelling.

Besides research, Alan also enjoys teaching and coaching talented students. He has taken up multiple teaching responsibilities within his department at Oxford, and has also assisted in supervising many students’ master research projects. His vast and abundant experience in teaching is no doubt an asset to students with aspirations to pursue higher education in Mathematics and Statistics.
